Ridha Ben Mosbah
Tunisian Delegate to the Organization of the Islamic Conference

*The delegate approaches the podium, clears his throat, pauses, and begins*

Fellow children of Allah:

Today, we learned of another attack in Europe and today, we learn of another claim of responsibility by those who seek to twist and pervert Islam to reach their murderous and unholy objectives. Our prayers go out to those in Germany who have lost loved ones today and we present to Berlin our hand in friendship in seeking to root out and bring to justice those responsible for this heinous crime.

But this issue goes beyond today's events. This issue speaks to the hearts and minds of all Muslims, all true believers of Allah and his prophet's words. Today, all members of the Islamic Conference must unite and condemn with one voice this and all acts of murder committed against innocents.

We must also renew our commitment to rooting out these criminals and exposing them to the light of justice. These infidels are not wearing army uniforms and will not invade any of our borders. They are our countrymen. They may even be our neighbors, our friends, our family. But we must also remember that they are our enemies. They are the enemies of all Muslims everywhere and we must reject them with no uncertainty.

Today, we ask this body to uniformly condemn these acts and agree to battle terrorism within our borders. Only together can we stand against this blight upon our names, our people and our god.

May Allah smile upon all of you.

I feel the same way as you do brother. We can condemn these acts as against our faith and beliefs, but we cannot take action within these halls militarily as we are a cultural organization. You may want to bring this up in the Arab League. There they can give you the support you need to make changes to combat this issue.

Of course, you are correct, my friend, but this is as much a cultural battle as a military battle. Obviously, no treaty or resolution will be signed here, but this message must reach the ears of as many of our brothers as possible.
